The Crown Appreciation Post

For a brief moment in January, I hated The Crown because it robbed all my favorites to win Golden Globes and the SAGs. I still think it is a crime to snub Westworld, This Is Us and even Courtney B. Vance who has enjoyed a winning streak in every award in favor of The Crown. But I thought I need to be objective, so I gave the Netflix series a go, and mein Gott, this show is so gorgeous and binge-worthy unlike a recent Netflix series which I really want to watch and continue but I just found it boring and pretentious, sorry Brit Marling. And yes, I didn't finish The OA.

Currently, I'm still on Episode 7 of The Crown but I guess, it's safe to say that the series' best episode is the second episode titled Hyde Park Corner. Not saying that the following episodes aren't engaging, but everything about that second episode is just perfect. Claire Foy's performance is subtle and not flashy; it is a performance that grows on you as the story develops. But I believe Jared Harris as King George IV needs more recognition. In my opinion, Harris has the best performance in the whole series and he only has like two full episodes (I guess that's a mild spoiler?). Also, music by Rupert Gregson-Williams is so good it eclipsed the bland theme song composed by Hans Zimmer.

Let me guide you to some of my favorite shots from The Crown.

From ep 2 Hyde Park Corner
This one is my all time favorite.

From ep 1 Wolverton Splash
Scene is amplified by a stirring score by RGW

From ep 2 Hyde Park Corner
The score in this scene is also FIRE

From ep 4 Act of God
The series' first Problem-of-the-Week episode

From ep 5 Smoke and Mirrors
Anytime Jared Harris is on screen is a welcome

From ep 6 Gelignite

There's only two things that certain people should do:
- Make the Queen watch The Crown
- Develop this series until it reached the 1990s timeline and get Helen Mirren to return as Queen Elizabeth II.

And I should finish this show quickly so I can continue watching some series that are now abandoned, like my Orange is the New Black, Better Call Saul, Empire and so many more.
