It's the 17th year of this annual list where I list all my anticipated films of the year. Quick update, for the time being I am now in Sweden for my Masters' degree. It has nothing to do with movies, but being here has made me closer to movies. I volunteered in both Uppsala Short Film Festival and Stockholm Film Festival, and got to watch bunch of movies in the process for free. I'm also still writing for Collider, where my articles lately received heated comments (I'm only doing my job, guys!).
In 2025, I watched 63 movies in the cinema, which includes 13 movies I watched for free during Stockholm Film Festival. I also rewatched some re-releases in the cinemas, like Avatar: The Way of Water, Interstellar (twice in IMAX), and all three Lord of the Rings for a day-long marathon. That's a good year of watching movies for me, and a considerable increase from last year where I saw 38 movies in the cinema. However, from the 50 movies I listed on last year's list, I didn't see 15 of them (two of them are delayed to this year).
Cinema tickets are way more expensive here in Sweden. In other countries, it's usually like 10 Euros but here it's usually around 18 Euros for a regular ticket. Thankfully there are also indie cinemas where tickets are cheaper and they play more arthouse films. So, I hope I can still watch lots of films in the cinemas this year.
Without further ado, here's the list for 2026! As usual, bolded titles are must watches in the cinemas for me. There are several exciting films that the marketing materials I have yet to see, so I can't really judge whether they're cinema-worthy or not.

10. Narnia - Just had a Narnia trilogy rewatch so I'm very biased
9. Resident Evil - Zach Cregger takes on one of my favorite guilty pleasure franchises
8. Digger - Probably pretentious but intrigued
7. 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple - Loved Part I!
6. Disclosure Day - Spielberg!
5. Project Hail Mary - Loved the book and it looks stunning
4. Remain - Craziest collab, I'm so in.
3. The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping - Loved the book and the cast is insane
2. Dune Part Three - Here to follow Lisan Al-Gaib
1. The Odyssey - Nolan goes nuts
